The campaign to raise funds for Phase 2 of the Lamont Sports Park is connecting with residents and local businesses. A generous donation means local ball players will soon be able to stay connected at the park as well.
Bruce Telecom has contributed $50,000, giving the local telecommunications company 20-year naming rights to one of the park’s six new baseball diamonds.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau and Fundraising Campaign Co-Chairs Rob Stanley and Mike Myatt were on hand for the cheque presentation. “Bruce Telecom continues to demonstrate their commitment to being an excellent corporate citizen,” said Charbonneau. “Their generous donation has not only given the campaign a significant boost, but it will also ensure the Lamont Sports Park will have WIFI services for players and spectators.”
Co-chair Stanley added that, “Bruce Telecom has rural roots, and they help people connect. It’s very fitting they are making such a generous donation to the development of a rural community hub where people will connect well into the future.”
“The concept, ‘Together Everyone Achieves More (T.E.A.M)’, couldn’t be more accurate here,” said Ray Lahoud, Bruce Telecom’s President & CEO. “We believe in community support and have always been active in lending a hand, giving back, and doing our small part simply because it feels right. We are thrilled to be a part of this project.”
Phase 2 of the park development will include two youth baseball fields and an accessible playground. This will add to the four baseball diamonds built in Phase 1.
On Saturday June 4th, the public is invited for their first viewing of the park, to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 and to help launch the public fundraising campaign.
