Meals on Wheels relies on its volunteers

March may be drawing to a close but the Meals on Wheels program in Grey & Bruce keeps on rolling.

The program relies on volunteers to deliver meals to adults who may be isolated or in need of a little help in getting proper nutrition while in their homes.

In Saugeen Shores alone, 78 volunteers deliver more than 1,000 meals each year.  The ‘home cooked’ style meals in Saugeen Shores are prepared by Harrigan’s Food Market in Southampton.

This year, during March awareness month, guest volunteers took a turn at delivering Meals on Wheels, including Saugeen Shores Winterhawks hockey player Jay Thomson, who joined volunteers Gerard and Deirdre Walsh on Tuesday, March 26th,
