Memorial Tournament to help raise funds for WES for Youth

Jack Drury was a student at Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) in Port Elgin when he took his own life in August of 2017.

To help raise raise funds and create awareness for mental health, and in memory of Jack, SDSS Royals Football Coach, Joey Wentworth, and Jack’s friends and family are organizing the 1st annual Jack Drury “Dirt Bowl” Flag Football Tournament.

The “Dirt Bowl” will be held on Saturday, August 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Organizers would like to have 24 co-ed teams compete. Participants need to be at least 14 years of age to sign up and the entry fee for each team is $200.

Included with the $200 entry fee is a BBQ Rib dinner at the Queen’s Bar and Grill for all participants and the opportunity to win back a team entry fee.There is a $400 prize for 1st place, a $300 prize for 2nd place, and a $200 prize for 3rd place.

Queen’s Bar & Grill is also selling $20 tickets to help with fundraising efforts and there will be raffle prizes and a silent auction.

All proceeds raised at the Tournament will be split between WES (Wellness and Emotional Support) For Youth Online and the Royals Football program.
