Welcome to July. It looks like I can finally turn off my furnace. My garden that looked more like a rice patty for three months has finally dried out and things are starting to grow. Let’s hope this good weather is here to stay.
Meat Draws and Bingo are still doing well. Friday Night BBQ’s are getting more and more great donations of salads and desserts. However, it would be nice to see more members support this tasty and fun night. We thank all of those who have supported in the past.
There will be BBQ’s on July 12th and 26th. Please try to join us with your family and friends.
The Branch has undergone a few renovations. If you have driven by you can’t help but notice the big new sign on the front of the building. Don and his team did a great job getting the old one down and the new one up. We will also be upgrading the sign on the annex side of the building.
The Games Room has also been repainted by Paul Dennison – thanks Paul, and new wall lights have been installed. It looks much brighter so please come in and check it out.
I had the pleasure of taking part at the District Track & Field Meet in Kincardine on June 22nd along with 4 other Branch members; Norma, Sharon, Kathryn and Rhonda. We had a great turn-out of athletes and the weather was perfect. More volunteers are needed so please consider this for next June.
Rhonda and I were both well received at Northport School Graduation on June 24th.
We presented this year’s Mathematics and Best Overall Student awards. This is the last year the Grade 7 & 8’s will be at Northport as they will be moving on to the high school.
Zone C – 4 Commander Kathryn Eastwood provided a very good workshop on June 2nd
for all the Zone C- 4 Officers and Presidents. The theme was “Back to Basics” and in
formation was provided to aid the Officers and Presidents in their duties.
That is all for now. Enjoy the summer weather and hope to see you out and about.
President Robert (Bob) Harrison
