More on Saugeen Shores agreement with Service Line Warranties

Further to the article regarding the recent mail-out by Service Line Warranties of Canada (SLWC) published on January 1st, Saugeen Shores entered into an agreement with the company with the passing of a By-law in June, 2015.

At the time, staff recommended the agreement to Council as it would provide warranty services to residents for private sewer and water line services.

It was anticipated that the service would reduce calls to the town for private infrastructure problems and would give residents an option to what could be a large one-time cost.

The staff report also pointed out that SLWC “… was committed to using local contractors for the warranty service …”.

SLWC offers three warranty products and says that less than two per cent of claims are denied:

  • External sewer line warranty
  • External water line warranty
  • Internal plumbing and drainage

Also, according to the staff report, a marketing campaign was to be completed each year in spring and fall through direct mail-outs at the cost of SLWC

As pointed out in the previous article and after discussion with a local insurance broker, it is advisable that residents contact their insurance company or broker to review their homeowner policy regarding their ‘water package’ coverage.
