Museum hosts an evening of tasty brews and bites

It was an evening of cold beers and delicious appetizers when the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) hosted its annual ‘Brews & Bites’ Guided Beer Tasting on Friday (Nov. 27), despite protocols regulating that fewer people could attend.

This year, the evening featured Maclean’s Ales from Hanover with founder and owner, Charles Maclean in combination with appetizers by Harleys Pub & Perk in Mildmay.

Upon arrival, everyone received a Maclean’s Lager paired with a mini-beef slider, with blue cheese mushroom tarts and and a mini cup rice and marsala.

From there, the evening progressed to included four more tastings from Farmhouse Blonde to Pale Ale and Brown Ale to Cherry Porter with Mclean explaining the embodiments of each beer.

Maclean’s passion for beer is a result of a motorcycle trip that he took through England where he tended bar in a pub and learned the craft of brewing beer.  Once he returned home to Ontario, he founded what was one of the province’s first craft breweries with his signature beer that bears his name … Maclean’s Ale.
