National Poetry Month celebrates local poet’s new collection

April is National Poetry month and, celebration, The Brucedale Press will launch a new collection of poetry by Port Elgin resident Jennifer Frankum.

Sunday, April 14, the poet will be at Port Elgin Branch Library from 1:30 to 3:30 to read from and autograph copies of The Position of My Heart.

Retired after twenty-nine years teaching at Saugeen Secondary School, Jennifer Frankum sees former students in her daily life. A keen observer of human foibles, she hones in on telling details that set her poetry apart. This is her fourth collection of poetry, and she has also written a picture book for preschoolers, illustrated by former student Brianne Maas.

The new collection is edited by Corinne Robertston-Brown of Kincardine, and its striking and inviting cover design is by Phil McDonald of Port Elgin. Publisher Anne Duke Judd says, “The Brucedale Press delights in showcasing the talents of area creators.”

People wanting to reserve copies, or who cannot attend the launch, can contact the publisher by emailing info@brucedalepress.ca or leaving a message at 519-832-6025.
