Newly born abandoned puppies rescued

Saugeen Shores Police received multiple calls overnight in regards to newly born puppies that appeared to have been abandoned at different locations throughout Port Elgin.
As a result of this investigation police have charged a 36 year old man of Port Elgin with Failing to provide care to animals x8, although the number climbed quickly to 13 puppies.
He was released with a court date and was placed on conditions not to have possession of any animal until the completion of this matter.
All animals were seized and transported to a place of safety.  The Provincial Animal Welfare Service (P.A.W.S) has been notified and will also be conducting their own investigation.
Saugeen Shores Police thank the community members who located and kept the pups safe until this investigation was complete.
