Hosted by the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF), the recent Chamber of Commerce after-hours business mixer, was held at the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) in Port Elgin on Thursday, May 19th.
The mixers give business owners and local municipal officials the opportunity to meet monthly and network on ideas in a social environment.
Also, at each mixer, the Chamber organizes a wide variety of raffle draw gifts donated by local businesses.
While networking, everyone had the chance to sample delicious hors d’oeuvres at the buffet, along with Three Sheets beverages, provided by the Wismer House of Port Elgin.

Tracy Murray, Executive Director of the Hospital Foundation, explained to the business crowd in attendance that fundraising was continuing for the Bring TOM to Town CT Scanner campaign.
“We are close to our fundraising goal,” said Murray, “and we hope that the upcoming Gran Fondo will result in our reaching that goal. We need some 140 volunteers for the Gran Fondo and there are also many other ways to contribute to the hospital.”
President of the NII, Bruce Wallace, also explained the role of the NII and how it has become involved in educating youth in the region through virtual programming of maths and sciences.
