Patience is running out say Beach Preservers

To the Editor:

The following is a letter that was sent to all our Councillor and Staff in Saugeen Shores.  We have been waiting patiently but even our patience is now wearing thin.  Also included in the letter was the recent legal position taken regarding Sauble Beach and its attempt to alter the dunes.

“To All Councillors and Staff,

There are many local residents, including  1600 members of the Port Elgin Beach Preservers who are anxious to hear what is happening with regards to the SVCA administrative review of the CCV application.  It has been seven weeks since the September 7th meeting which came to an  abrupt end due to the storm and the public has heard nothing. No report on the Town’s website. No report at Council.

How many Councillors campaigned on transparency in the last municipal election?
Does the Town intend to provide the Dynamic Beach Assessment as requested?
When will the review be completed?
Why is the public being kept in the dark as to the completion of the review?

If the Cedar Crescent Village application is being revised in some fashion, the public has a right to know and a right to some input.

As well, my August 13th FOIA request has also gone unfulfilled, well past the 30 day response time as legislated by the province.
Should the SVCA issue a permit, it must be clear on the record that the SVCA formed the opinion that the proposed development will have no negative impact on the dynamic beach (or the conservation of land).  ( See Laforme v. The Corporation of the Town of Bruce Peninsula)”
