Patios were busy on Day one of Phase 1 reopening plan

This is the first weekend of Phase 1 of the province’s re-opening plan and, on Friday day one, people took advantage returning to outdoor patios at their favourite dining spots.

At the popular Wismer House in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores), servers were kept busy with customers who, for the most part, were returning ones.

For Steve and Jackii Giesler, Friday on the patio has become a tradition.  The couple from Waterloo has a trailer at the Kenorus Campground and RV Resort.  “When we come up, we enjoy our first night here by having dinner on the patio.  Usually, it’s one of the Wismer pizzas with a cold brew,” says Jackie Giesler.

Christine Mitchell, Business Development Coordinator for Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce, was joined on the patio by her friends.  “We wanted to come out on this first day of Phase 1 in order to support our local businesses like the Wismer House that have been closed for such a long time.  Hopefully, this will continue throughout the summer and we encourage everyone to support their local businesses.”

“We are so happy to be working,” said Kristin Laroque.  Philly Baumburger, a new employee, is also excited to be working at the Wismer House.

Today, Saturday, is day two of Phase 1, and everyone is hoping for good weather to enjoy the many patios that are now open.
