is a one and a half year old German Shepherd. The shelter does not have his entire history and background as he was transferred from an animal control shelter where he’d been picked up as a stray. Our question is, “Who would dump such a dog?” The shelter was at capacity and so they reached out to us to see if we could find him a loving home.
Shelter behaviour information is based on his time spent with us and our own observations. Bruce does have barrier aggression and doesn’t always introduce well in his kennel. Outside introductions however, have been more positive.
He has been good with handling and manipulations such as touching his feet, face, abdomen, mouth etc. Bruce is nervous of strangers and is seemingly more comfortable with women. He is also smart, attentive and you can observe him thinking. Given the right opportunities this boy could excel.
Bruce needs someone who is both experienced and willing to continue with training/socialization both with people and other dogs. Bruce is athletic and has the ability to scale a fence, although we haven’t observed him doing this.
Adults only home with breed/large dog experience are required. No cats.
Please call the shelter to arrange an appointment.

The Shelter says “… choose to offer a safe place for pets that have no choices left.” Sometimes, their owners have had no choice either. They, too, may have aged and have to move into a facility where their loved companions are not allowed or, in the final step of life, may have died leaving their pets behind. Whatever the reason, these faithful friends have no choice but to wait … wait for someone new to take them in and love them.”
