The Saugeen Shores Police Benevolence Fund in partnership with the Southampton Rotary Club was established in early 2021.
The Fund provides police with funds and supplies to support community members in need with emergency lodging, food, shelter, and clothing. The fund also supplies SSPS with backpacks containing essential items for those in need, as well as activity books and crafts for youth who are at our station during difficult times.
John Van Bastelaar of the Southampton Rotary Club was instrumental in organizing the fund, and remains committed to the ongoing support of the fund.
To ensure the fund continues well into the future, Van Bastelaar has reached out to local church groups to assist with maintaining the fund with financial support.
The Police Services Board says that the assistance from the Southampton Rotary Club is “appreciated and greatly benefits the community”.
