At its recent summer special Saugeen Shores Police Services Board meeting on August 14th, new member Pat O’Connor was sworn in.
O’Connor has held several positions in the municipality including past-Chair of the Town’s Planning Committee, past-President of the Southampton Marine Heritage Society and past-President of Southampton Rotary.
Currently, he is also local Constituency Manager for Huron-Bruce Conservative MP Ben Lobb’s office.
At the meeting, approval was also given for construction of an auxiliary building at the new Police Services site. The building will be funded (up to $30,000) from the Police Services Board Reserve Fund to house items such as confiscated materials, bicycles and items to be auctioned, Police vehicle winter tires, etc. The items are currently in a rental location and Chief Bellai recommended that it would be more suitable to have everything on-site within the new fenced compound. The new building/shed exterior will also be in keeping with the new Police Service building.
