With ‘dining by donation’ and the generosity of those who attended, organizers report that, after expenses, a surplus is expected.

“The people have been very very generous,” said organizer Doug Goar.  “We also had over 70 wonderful volunteers working with five team leaders, Katherine Wallace, MaryEllen Harrigan, Nancy Campbell, Jackie Smith and Niv Saberi.  We are always looking for volunteers as each year we have some who are retiring. So that it’s not onerous for anyone, we divide the volunteers into five teams so that each only works three times from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.”

Monies raised go back into the community through various groups. Last year, 2023, donations were made to First Nations Food Bank, Living Hope Food Basket in Port Elgin, the Salvation Army Food Bank and the Saugeen Shores Police Service to create packages of basic supplies for the homeless an people in need.

“We want to thank everyone for their support this year,” added Goar, “and we look forward to seeing everyone again when the suppers start up.”
