Port Elgin iconic restaurant closes

Port Elgin’s iconic restaurant, Aunt Mabel’s, has closed its doors at the busiest time of the year, the summer tourist season.

According to a source, the restaurant was unable to acquire staff to meet the increased demand on services.  “Kitchen staff positions were especially difficult to fill along with service staff who were literally run off their feet”.

Other businesses have also cited the same problem with being unable to acquire staff.

The motel that is part of Aunt Mabel’s remains open but the restaurant is closed.
