In November Port, Elgin Legion Branch 340 again made an investment in the health and learning of students in Port Elgin schools. They donated $300 to each nutrition program; $1200.00 in total.
Port Elgin Saugeen Central, St Joseph’s, Northport Elementary and Saugeen District Secondary schools all offer a nutrition program filled with healthy food choices to over 1,000 students collectively on a daily basis.
Each school day, volunteers spend about one hour at a local school preparing and serving a simple meal for any child who arrives at school hungry. Volunteers are always need to help out at a nearby school.
“Because of donations like this one from Legion Branch 340,” says Bev Gateman, Community Program Manager of Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP) Grey Bruce, “we are able to purchase the food we need so no child spends the day at school hungry. THANK YOU so much for thinking of the kids!”
OSNP Grey Bruce challenges everyone to make an investment in the future of its children by investing in students’ health and well-being. The Nutrition Programs operate in every school in Grey and Bruce. For more information, visit www.osnp.ca
