Port Elgin Legion Branch 340: Giving back to the community

Port Elgin Legion Branch 340 continues to give back to the community and on April 2nd, the branch handed out donations to several local groups that included health care.

 

The Branch donated $6,000 to the Owen Sound Regional Hospital MRI campaign with $1,100 coming from the Ladies Auxiliary, which brings the total amount donated over one year to $11,000.

At the same time, the Branch also gave &7,500 to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation in Southampton which will go toward a Tyco Wander Guard to protect those patients who are inclined to wander due to dementia issues.

The Legion also presented the Saugeen Track & Field Club (STFC) with $1,050.  The Club is ranked third in the Province and the monies will go toward helping with expenses as athletes head off to the Nationals in Nova Scotia.

In addition to the three major donations, the Branch also provided funds for several other groups;

  • Military Family Resource Centre (Meaford)                   $200
  • Chantry Chinook Salmon Derby                                  $200
  • Northport Graduation Awards (2 plus $50 award each) $200
  • Big Band Celebration                                                 $250
