Port Elgin Legion Branch 340: Newsletter June, 2022

President Robert (Bob) Harrison

I am happy to report that we have a full Executive.

I am pleased to welcome Monica Carere, Trish Frizzell, Bernice Ribey and Craig Bell. I am sure that their much needed younger views of things will be a great asset.

I would also like to thank the outgoing Executive for their years of service.

I would like to thank the general membership for allowing Rhonda and I to attend the Provincial Convention. It was a long few days on the convention floor listening to Resolutions, Provincial Chair reports, presentations and elections. It was very informative and approximately $600,000 (594,544.05) was donated for all of the various charitable committees and including approximately $97,000 (96,560.60) for service dogs. As a footnote, we had 5 service dogs at the convention so we could see how important these animals are to our veterans.

We will be starting our Friday BBQ on June 3rd . A calendar of dates is provided in this issue. Please contact Rhonda at 519-389-4806 or email at bnrshow@eastlink.ca if you would like to volunteer a couple of hours. Volunteers are needed for cooking, set-up/clean-up. Food donations of salad or dessert would be greatly appreciated. Let Rhonda know so we can determine what week would be suitable to avoid duplication of services and donations.

I am pleased to report that our flat roof has been replaced and we have no current problems. We are looking at future maintenance needs.

Please plan to attend our General Meeting on Tuesday, June 7th at 7:30 as we have invited Mike Myatt and his team to do a short presentation on the Lamont Park facility. The Committee is asking for our support for this project.
