Port Elgin Rotary continues with pledge to local hospital

Port Elgin Rotary Club presented its second of three installments to Saugeen Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 3rd (2020).

Rotary President Steve Dennison presented the second of three                                                           installment donations

The installments are the Club’s pledge that was made in 2018 toward a new MRI.  The second installment of $10,000 brings the Port Elgin Rotary’s MRI pledge to date to $20,000 with another $10,000 expected next year as their final payment for this new piece of much needed equipment.

Included with this second donation is an additional $2,500 raised by the Port Elgin Rotary Club during their recent online and televised Mother’s Day Auction.

“The Hospital Foundation is so grateful for all the hard work and support from clubs and organizations like the Port Elgin Rotary Club, especially this year when a majority of the Hospital Foundation’s fundraising events have been cancelled due to Covid-19,” said Mary Jo Arnett, Foundation Board Chair.  “The $300,000 plus shortfall in fundraising revenue for the Hospital Foundation this year will be a challenge to overcome and one that is most likely familiar to many other local businesses in the community. We are so thankful for the tremendous community support from residents, businesses, organizations and service clubs who have not only donated but have also come up with their own unique fundraising ideas to help support their local hospital and keep health care close to home.”
