The Bruce Grey Woodlands Association (BGWA) recently issued a reminder that the deadline for comments on the proposed Provincial Bill 23 – More Homes Built Faster is quickly approaching.
The Bill, if passed, will result in sweeping changes to the province’s natural heritage and land-use planning legislation and policy. According to the BGWA, “Bill 23 spells disaster for Farmlands, Conservation Authorities, Wetlands and Natural Heritage … the provincial government frames all the above changes as addressing the housing crisis, obscuring the fact that Bill 23 satisfies first and foremost the interests of developers, delivered on a silver platter.”
BGWA was formed in 2014 from the amalgamation of the Bruce County Woodlot Association and the Grey County Woodlot Association and is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to encouraging the improvement and sustainable management of the forests in Bruce & Grey Counties.
Ontario Nature has developed several documents related to these proposed changes as well as a ‘Call to Action’.
The deadline to submit comments is November 17th.
