Pumpkin Pies provide a sweet donation to Huron Shores Hospice

The Rotary Club of Port Elgin presented the Huron Shores Hospice with a cheque for $2912.00 as part of its $10,000 annual commitment over five years.

The funds were raised through pumpkin pie sales at Pumpkinfest (COVID-friendly, of course) with pies made by Just Like Mom’s in Southampton. Included in the sales was an order from Bruce Power for 150 pies, which were distributed to frontline workers in Grey and Bruce counties.

Rotary expresses a BIG GIANT thank you to everyone who purchased a pie at Pumpkinfest 2020 and to Bruce Power for their extremely generous donation. “We are so happy to be able to contribute to the Hospice with the support of our amazing community.”
We would also like to recognize Vonnie Jasso, owner of Just Like Mom’s in Southampton, who did the most work baking all the delicious buys for each and every purchaser. Just Like Mom’s has been in business since 2013, operating a full-service restaurant at 150 North Ranking Street in Southampton. She also offers baking from scratch, which includes her award-winning butter tarts (2018 Ontario Butter Tart Festival Champion). Rotary thanks Vonnie for truly making this fundraiser such a huge success.
