To the Editor:
I am very disappointed in our government at all levels for allowing the fireworks displays on Canada Day.
I am not against celebrating what a great country we have, but I think it was a slap in the face to the thousands of firefighters from around the world as well as our own to be setting off pyrotechnics at this time.
Our air quality is some of the worst in the world, people suffering with breathing difficulties as well as the long term effects on everyone should have made this an easy decision.
I realize these displays didn’t add a huge amount to the existing problem, but it is the fact that we chose to ignore one of our greatest national disasters that is happening right before our eyes by allowing this event to take place, at all levels of government, shows a total disrespect to all those involved.
