Reader lends support to new Port Elgin beach proposed development

To the Editor:
I am writing to lend support to the group of investors and business people who have presented a proposal to the Town in response to the Request for Proposal for development at the Port Elgin Main Beach, namely the Cedar Crescent Village proposal.
There have been numerous Press releases and Letters to the Editor which in my view have been very negative and unsupportive.  The Port Elgin Main Beach is in need of rejuvenation as in its current state it falls far behind the services and amenities offered by other Lake Huron beach communities.
The proponents of the development, some of whom are prominent business people in this community, deserve a lot of credit for their personal and financial commitment to such a large project which will serve to beautify the beach and increase the economic prosperity of this community.  Not only have they been great business leaders, they have contributed their personal time and financial contributions to non-profit causes such as Rotary, feeding the less fortunate in the community and improving the lives of many.
Cedar Crescent Village will be a great improvement to the current offerings. I think that it is important to share the proposal with the public and I’m confident that all comments received will be considered by the Waterfront Ad Hoc Committee, Town staff and the developers.
I hope that my support encourages others in the community to give a shout out to those who put their money where their mouth is.
