Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores helps out Special Olympics

When the Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores learned of the FUNdraiser being held at Boston Pizza in Port Elgin, members took the opportunity to drop by with a donation.

Former Rotary President, Pat O’Connor and Janet King, presented a cheque for $1,000 to the Special Olympians to help out the organization and its athletes.

“Rotary is thrilled to be able to help out,” said O’Connor.  “It’s quite a feat to be named an athlete to the provincial Ontario Special Olympic Team and to represent our community at the National Games.”

“We really appreciate all the help of the community when it comes to fundraising,” said coach Cheryl Smethurst.  “From local businesses like Boston Pizza to organizations like Rotary, it makes such a difference to Special Olympics and the athletes.”
