There will only be three trees per household available and the sale is available to Saugeen Shores residents only, excluding landscaping companies.
The unique subsidized tree program was established so that Saugeen Shores residents can acquire mature trees at a reduced cost, thanks to the sponsorship of Bruce Power and Everest Nurseries.
The purpose of the sale each year is to extend the urban tree canopy throughout Saugeen Shores for cleaner air and a healthier environment. Trees for Saugeen initiated the program to have more residents be able to afford mature trees.
From 10 ft. Sugar Maples to Blue Beech, White Pine, Norway Spruce and more, it is an opportunity to purchase healthy trees that are already grown.
Tree orders are being taken at the Municipal Offices at 600 Tomlinson Drive in Port Elgin from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and payment is required at the time of ordering. The deadline for ordering is April 18th.
Tree pick-up will be on Saturday, May 4th at the town’s Public Works Shop on Concession 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (no exceptions). The trees are mature and, therefore, residents are encouraged to arrive with a truck or trailer to pick up their trees.
