Saugeen Shores helps those in need

Saugeen Shores Police Service held its annual Food Drive on Saturday, December 8th at Rowland’s Your Independent Grocer in Port Elgin in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank.

“The response by the community was amazing,” said Inspector Kevin Zettel. “Our residents consistently step up to help those in need and, this year, was no exception.

Front-line officers and members of the police Auxiliary Unit took donations of food, cash
and gift cards throughout the day from 10AM to 3PM filling two vehicles with groceries.

Total Food – 1,606 pounds
Gift Cards – $295
Cash – $2,704.20
