On August 31st at 10:27pm an officer was on general patrol on Goderich St. in Port Elgin and observed a vehicle with obvious damage as it was missing a front bumper.
The officer turned around in attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle sped away at an extremely high rate of speed on Goderich St. near Green St.
The officer did not pursue the vehicle, but noted the rate of speed was so high that it was a marked departure from the normal rate of speed. The driver made many dangerous maneuvers putting other vehicles and pedestrians at risk.
The vehicle was last seen north bound on Highway 21. The Owen Sound Police Service was alerted and located that vehicle within the city. A male driver was arrested for dangerous driving.
The Saugeen Shores Police have charged a 19 year old Owen Sound man with:
1. Dangerous Driving – Criminal Code
2. Stunt Driving – Highway Traffic Act
3. Fail to display two plates – Highway Traffic Act
4. Unnecessary noise – Highway Traffic Act
The male’s vehicle was impounded for seven and his licence was suspended for seven days. He was released with a court date.
