Saugeen Shores Police: Several charges laid over weekend

December 1st 2023 – 2:00pm:  Saugeen Shores Police were dispatched to an issue at a local Hotel. Officers attended and located a male known to them to be on conditions to reside in another community. The male was also with someone he was not to have contact with as per a previous release order.

As a result of this incident a 44-year-old of Northern Bruce Peninsula has been charged with:

Failure to Comply with Release Order x2

He was held at the Saugeen Shores Police Service for a Bail Hearing and was subsequently remanded into custody.


December 1st 2023 – 12PM Noon:  Saugeen Shores Police were dispatched to a business in Southampton for a report of a male causing a disturbance and yelling racial slurs and threats at staff members. The male had left the scene in a vehicle.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Police requested that the male exit the vehicle. The driver refused to identify himself or co-operate with police. The male attempted to put the vehicle into motion and was he was physically removed from the vehicle. The male then began to resist arrest and struck one of the officers.

As a result of this investigation a 40-year-old male of South Bruce Peninsula has been charged with:

CC 264.1(1)(a) Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm x2
CC 175(1)(a) – Causing a Disturbance
CC 129(a) – Obstruct Peace Officer
CC 266- Assault
CC 270(1)(b) – Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

He was released on an Undertaking with conditions and a future court date.


December 2nd 2023 – 6:00 p.m.:  Saugeen Shores Police were dispatched to a report of an unwanted person at a residence on the South end of Port Elgin. Both parties were known to each other.

Police attended and attempted to place the unwanted female under arrest. A struggle ensued and the female was forcefully removed from the home.

A search incident to arrest located a stun gun and a quantity of methamphetamine. The female was transported back to the Police Station for lodging.

While at the station the female spat in the face of one of the officers.

As a result of this investigation a 35-year-old female of Port Elgin has been charged with:

CC 349(1) Unlawfully in Dwelling House
CC 129(a) Resist Peace Officer
CC 88 Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
CC 90 Carrying concealed weapon
CC 91(2) Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
CDSA 4(1) Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
CC 270(1)(a) Assault a Peace Officer

She was held in custody for a Bail Hearing the following day.
