Saugeen Shores recreational facilities to reopen

The Province of Ontario moved to Phase 3 of its Roadmap to Reopen plan on Friday, June 16th at 12:01a.m. The new Rules for Areas at Step 3 regulation further expands indoor activities and services, and increases capacities.

With the reopening of indoor amenities in Phase 3, the Town of Saugeen Shores will begin to expand in-person services and indoor recreation.

“As we open up in Step Three, it’s encouraging to see services return as we move our way back towards normal,” says Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “We know that there’s still work to do in Grey Bruce to beat COVID-19, and we will be following public health advice and getting vaccinated.”

The Centennial Pool in Port Elgin will reopen on Monday, July 26th for recreational swimming. The summer pool schedule and reopening protocols are posted at www.SaugeenShores.ca/Pool and recreational swims (e.g. aquafit or lane swim) open for pre-booking seven days prior to the activity date. Registration for swimming lessons is available now at www.SaugeenShores.ca/Register.

Indoor halls and meeting spaces will reopen for bookings beginning August 23rd and ice at the PLEX is available for rentals beginning August 21st.

Updates to municipal services due to COVID-19 can be found at www.SaugeenShores.ca/COVID-19.
