Saugeen Shores STING U11 boys team wins Provincial Championship

The Saugeen Shores Sting U11 boys baseball team won the Provincial Championship on the weekend in Wyoming, Ontario.

On Friday, the boys won two games and then on Saturday came out swinging to win another, with a bye until their evening game.

On Sunday morning, the team lost their first game at 9:00 a.m. to Kingsville.  As this was a double knockout, they then had to play 45 minutes later against Mitchell, a team they had defeated earlier in the tournament.

They downed Mitchell and, with this victory, they now had to meet Kingsville in the final, an hour later.  Kingsville had been off since the morning game so this would be a very tough game, especially in the 30 degree “extreme heat warning”.

With an “on the edge of the chair” game and in a hard fought battle, the Sting were victorious with a narrow 11-10 score over Kingsville.

We are proud of how the coaches worked to bring the boys to this high level and instilled in the team that ‘work-together attitude’ and respect for others.

Thanks for the great season.
