Significant weather event declared and facilities closed in Saugeen Shores

The Town of Saugeen Shores is declaring a Significant Weather Event because of extreme weather conditions.  This started at 12:00 pm today, December 23, 2022.

Pursuant to the above regulation, this is not notice of a reduced level of service or a road closure. We are notifying the public that due to the current or forecasted conditions, residents should use caution when travelling on Municipal roads and sidewalks. The Town may also need longer than usual to bring the road conditions back to a state of repair.  

The Town advises residents to avoid unnecessary travel on the municipality’s roads and sidewalks.  If the residents must use these routes, they should use great caution.

Due to the deteriorating weather, the Town closed its arena facilities and the Centennial Pool at 1 p.m. today until after Boxing Day. 

All skating and swimming programs have been suspended.  The facilities are scheduled to reopen (weather permitting) on the following dates: 

• The Plex, Centennial Pool – Tues. December 27th 
• Southampton Coliseum – Thurs. December 29^th 

The Town will post any further closures on www.saugeenshores.ca and on its social media channels, should they occur. 

Please note the Municipal Offices are closed until January 3^rd, including Facilities Scheduling. 

The Town will update the public when the significant weather event has ended, through the www.saugeenshores.ca website, social media and through a news release to local media.
