Southampton Rotary helps Shoreline Day Away with Wish List

A new commercial-grade dishwasher and ten new card-tables for client activities were on the “Wish List” for the Shoreline Day Away Program, located in the Dr. Earl Medical building in Port Elgin.

Southampton Rotary responded to the request and used funds, generated through local fundraising events, and a matching grant from Rotary District 6330, to purchase the items, for a total of over $8,000. The dishwasher was installed on Monday, January 31st, and is ready for business, as soon as COVID restrictions allow for Day Away programs to resume.

The commercial dishwasher will be a real timesaver for staff as it complies with Public Health standards and reduces the time required with manual dishwashing protocols, as well as saving energy and water.

The card tables replace worn equipment and allow clients to be appropriately distanced to engage in program activities. These purchases complement the donation of three lift chairs provided to the program in 2020 through Southampton Rotary.

Other Rotary projects in the community include support for education, food banks, and hospice support, literacy, and youth mental health.
