Southampton Rotary is feeling blue over the Gran Fondo

Southampton Rotary is feeling blue – Rocky Mountain Blue to be exact.

The club has teamed up with Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation to promote the upcoming Gran Fondo Lake Huron cycling extravaganza that will be held August 19th, by painting bikes Rocky Mountain Blue with paint donated by Martin’s Home Hardware and Cycle Shop.

Collin MacDonald of Paisley Rotary Club lends a helping hand

The Gran Fondo is a fundraiser for the local hospital and is the first of its kind to be held in Saugeen Shores.

The event features four different routes for every cycling level: 30km, 70km, 110km and the ultimate 160km.  Riding along the shore of Lake Huron and through Bruce County, cyclists will have the opportunity to see unparalleled scenic vistas and enjoy the hospitality of communities along the routes as they offer up rest stops with refreshments.

In addition to helping the hospital, there is also the opportunity to win generously donated grand prizes, such as a flight anywhere that Air Canada flies in North America, and join in the after-cycling party that will take place at Southampton’s flag.

Whether you are a cyclist who wants to take part or want to sponsor a rider in their quest to raise funds for the hospital, Southampton Rotary urges every to visit:  … and keep an eye out for blue bikes in some of the most unusual locations!
