Earlier this year, the Rotary Club of Southampton held a competition to provide a photograph of an iconic Southampton scene for inclusion on a fundraising jigsaw puzzle.
Out of 48 entries from 15 photographers, Denise Buttenaar submitted the winning entry entitled the “Oldest Port” in Bruce County and said “everyone who crosses the ‘Zgaa-biig-ni-gan’ Bridge takes in this vista, which is the reason for choosing this photograph”.
Denise moved up to the Saugeen Shores area to begin her teaching career in 1982 with the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board. She and her husband Pete settled in Southampton and raised two children, a son Dane and daughter Paige. The beauty of Bruce and Grey County, especially Southampton, continues to inspire her photography.
The puzzle featuring a view of Southampton Harbour is available for a CASH donation of $20 from “A Little Of ThIs And That” at 155 High Street, Southampton. Proceeds go to Rotary causes. They are also available by mail order at $20 (plus shipping and handling) by emailing Tony@ rotary1938@gmail.com .
