A special appointment meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 7:00 p.m. to fill the position on Council that was left vacant when Councillor Kristan Shrider assumed the position with the Town as Director of Community Services.
Under the Municipal act, Council is authorized to fill the appointment from a selection of interested individuals who are qualified electors in Saugeen Shores and who submitted an application along with a personal statement and written responses to prepared questions.
During the meeting on Wednesday, the candidates will present opening statements and respond orally to a randomly selected question. The list of questions was circulated to each candidate and each provided their written response to Council in advance of the meeting. Candidates will have three minutes to present their opening comment and three minutes to respond to the question. Councillors will then vote, by random selection, by openly stating the name of the candidate each has chosen.
The candidate who receives more than half of the votes will be appointed to fill the vacancy.
