Stories behind Gran Fondo cyclists

One thousand riders participated in the Gran Fondo Lake Huron cycling fundraiser in support of the local Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and some had their own reasons for taking part.

For Jeff and Nikita Bury of Hanover, it was a tribute to their uncle Jeff Lee who was a Champion cyclist.

At 49, Lee, a husband and father from Uxbridge and Captain with the Uxbridge Fire Service, was badly injured in 2017 when his bicycle collided with a motorcycle.  At the time, he was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto via Ornge air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. He is still recovering today.

Nikita proudly wore a photo of her Uncle throughout the Gran Fondo ride.
