Summer a time for fundraisers

Summer along the shore of Lake Huron is a time for outdoor events that revolve around food such as BBQs and fish fry(s), many of which are major fundraisers for various organizations.

On Saturday, July 14th, Southampton United Church held one of its most highly attended fish fry(s) ever.  More than 350 people were served fresh whitefish, salads and desserts served up by more than 40 volunteers.

                                      Diners filled the downstairs area

Upstairs and down, the church was filled to capacity for one of the church’s major fundraisers of the year.

“We have to thank all the volunteers,” said organizer Peter Day, “and also the community who came out in support of our annual fish fry.  In all the years I’ve been doing this, I haven’t seen this kind of response and it is truly appreciated.  It just shows what a great community we have.”
