Summer about to begin when boats go into the water

Spring has officially arrived when the many boats are moved out of winter dry dock into Lake Huron at Port Elgin Harbour in anticipation of summer just around the corner.

The large lifting crane arrived early Saturday morning (May 14) and the lifts began as one-by-one the boats were carefully strapped then lifted and placed into the launch slip.

The procedure is a day-long event each Spring when boat owners and volunteers work tirelessly until all boats are in the water.  The traditional lift is weather dependent and, this year, May 14th proved to be a perfect lift-day with little to no wind to contend with.
