Support for Canadian Tire kids’ Jump Start continues despite COVID-19

COVID-19 is no match when it comes to donations and community giving in Saugeen Shores.

Maintaining ‘physical distancing’, Southampton Rotarians still managed to donate to the Canadian Tire children’s project, Jump Start, at Mowbrays’ Canadian Tire in Port Elgin.

Mike and Eleanor Mowbray (C) were all thumbs-up as they accepted the ‘long distance’ donation from                Rotarians (L) Dave Bertrand, Pres. Rob Hughes and Susan McDonald [for a larger view CLICK on IMAGE]

Mowbray’s Canadian Tire’s Jump Start for Kids in Port Elgin holds an annual summer parking-lot BBQ with fun and games and a bike safety rodeo with the support of the Saugeen Shores Police Service.  This year, however, the event will not be held because of the Covid-19 safety situation.

“Donations, like this $1,500 from Rotary,” said Eleanor Mowbray, “are even more important this year given the many cancellations for fundraising events.  We can’t even say how appreciated this community support is.  When this is all over, Jump Start will be here for the kids and every dollar we raise is matched by Canadian Tire and stays local.”

Eleanor Mowbray says a family simply has to call the store in Port Elgin (519-832-6995), or drop in and talk directly with herself and Mike.
