The Town is asking for the public’s input on whether to expand year-round access for dog access along Saugeen Shores’ waterfront.
Currently, the Town allows year-round access north of the Port Elgin Harbour and north of the Saugeen River in Southampton. Residents are asked to:
a) say Yes or No to allowing dogs on more waterfront areas throughout the year.
b) say Yes or No to allowing dogs on waterfront areas during certain hours and/or days
c) comment on which areas should have more access for dogs and their owners. (see map below)
Respondents will also find space to provide brief comments.
Survey: https://forms.saugeenshores.ca/Building-Services/Dog-Access-to-Waterfront-Survey
Survey Opens: Mon. May 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Survey Closes: Mon. May 22 at 4:30 p.m.
Note: The map’s Orange sections are additional areas where dogs on leash would be allowed year-round (currently restricted to October to May). The Town would still require owners to keep their dogs under control in any permitted areas and to clean up after their animals, as per current by-laws.
Council will receive a report with survey results in June along with residents’ comments and review by Town staff.
The Town thanks respondents for their engagement.
