Taste and try local foods at Foodland’s Support Local Producers day

Every August 1st long weekend for more than 20 years, Southampton Foodland has held its Lobster Fest, with fresh lobster flown in from Nova Scotia.

This year, more than 600 lobsters were pre-ordered with most of them cooked by Foodland staff on-site on Saturday, August 5th.

While some customers took their lobsters home to cook, others waited patiently and enjoyed the live entertainment by the barefoot troubadour, ‘The Al Show’, while their lobsters were being cooked on-site.

The fun and music isn’t over yet for the summer.  It continues on Saturday, August 12th when it’s Support Local Producers day at Southampton Foodland.

“We are very proud that we support local producers,” added Catalano.  “As I have said in the past, people want to know where their food is coming from, now more than ever.”

For its promotion of local products, Foodland Southampton once again recently received a provincial award for the second year in a row.

Southampton customers will again have the opportunity to meet local producers and sample their wares, which are carried inside throughout the store.

“Come out and meet our local producers, taste their samples and sit and enjoy the music, it’s always a fun time,” says owner Martino.
