The Harts of Southampton Foodland are retiring!

Southampton’s Foodland owners Don and MaryLynn Hart are retiring.

MaryLynn and Don Hart (C) cut the cake surrounded by their long-time employees (L-R) Shannon Bullivant, Ned Todorov, Heather Rennick, Joe Martini,                           Matt Burrows, Mary Spahr and Penny Currie

Tomorrow, Saturday May 4th, is officially their last day but today, Friday May 3rd, it’s all about cake and saying goodbye to their customers.

“The last 10 years have flown,” say the Harts.  “We have the greatest customers and we are really going to miss them and the store.  We also have had wonderful staff, many of whom have been with us from the beginning.”

The Harts have a long history with the organization and their son is also involved in the company and is taking over as Manager of Sobey’s in Stratford.

Plans for the future?  “We don’t know what retirement will bring,” said MaryLynn Hart, “but we plan on spending more time with our grandchildren and Don, of course, is looking forward to getting out on the golf course.  We are also going to travel a bit and have a family trip planned with all my siblings to go to Ireland, so we’re looking forward to that.”

Some people were surprised at the news while others congratulated the Harts.

Letitia Thompson (R) was surprised at the news … “You’re what – retiring?”
Muriel and Don Shular stopped by to congratulate the Harts and have a piece of the retirement cake
