Come rain or shine, it’s a long-standing tradition in Saugeen Shores where Victoria Day long weekend means a Sunday on the Saugeen River.
From a raft with a sofa and BBQ to inflatables lashed together, there was every kind of floatable device. Although the Saugeen River is at a high water level, the rafts meandered slowly down the river with everyone enjoying the sun.
The annual rafting event has taken place for decades and some of today’s youth probably had fathers and, perhaps, grandfathers who did the same thing at their age.
Despite a cold week leading up to the weekend, the weatherman cooperated for the May 18th event with sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures for the day.
