Between the government of Canada and Facebook, they have done a number on news outlets, including the Saugeen Times.
The following message was posted today, not by the Saugeen Times or other media outlets, but by Facebook.
“People in Canada can’t see your content
In response to Canadian government legislation, news content can’t be viewed in Canada.“

In response to the Online News Act, Facebook restricts the sharing and viewing of news content from Pages connected to a news outlet in Canada.
If you are in Canada, this means:
- You can no longer share or view news links or content on Facebook, including news articles and audio-visual content posted by news outlets.
- You can no longer see links or content from any news outlet Pages, even if you search for them or follow them.
How we identify news:
- Meta’s review team identifies news outlets based on legislative definitions.
- News outlets include undertakings whose primary purpose is to produce news content, in any format (including an audio or audiovisual format), that reports on, investigates or explains current issues or events of public interest.
