When neighbours come together good things happen

Saugeen Times recently published an article this week about a family whose young dad, Jamie Hingston, has been diagnosed with what, today, is still considered eventually fatal – ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The generosity of the entire community has already begun to shine through.

In addition to donations to help with financial challenges, neighbours have begun to step forward to help with renovations that will be needed as Jamie’s condition is expected to advance such as having to remodel the bathroom and build a ramp for what will eventually be used by his wheelchair.

According to sources, the young family is new to the community, when compared with many other families and, therefore, their network of connections was small when the devastating medical news was received.

“Our neighbourhood is coming together,” said neighbour Guy Helwig.  “There are so many good people out there, especially in our community.”
