It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Edwards on March 4th surrounded by family in his 91st year at the Southampton Care Centre.
Born in London, ON to parents William Edwards and Violet Ellerton Edwards of Brantford, ON, he leaves behind a loving family and fond memories; wife Eleanor Joy Edwards; sons Douglas George (Susan) and William David; and grandchildren Anne and Andrew.
Bill was an elder and board member at the Weston Presbyterian church. He was a musician who played in bands in Brantford, Toronto and Southampton. He was an avid sailer and loved walking his dog around town. Bill was the second president of Probus Southport. He is remembered for his volunteer work with the Bruce County Museum. Bill enjoyed many years of retirement with friends and family at his home in Southampton.
The family would like to thank Dr. Higgins and the Southampton Care Centre for the wonderful care provided to Bill over his last years. A special thank you to Bill’s personal support worker, Debra for her attentive and loving care.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bruce County Museum, or the Southampton Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
To honour Bill, pat a dog or better still take that dog for a walk down a country road.
