Once again, Jeff Carver owner of The Wismer House in Port Elgin is taking another entreprenuerial leap as he plans to create Port Elgin’s first craft brewery.
In a recent media release, he says that planning and preparations for Port Elgin’s new brewery have been proceeding all summer and are ready to move forward in the coming weeks.
“We are incredibly excited about the progress we’ve made on plans for the brewery, as well as the rooftop patio that will be incorporated above the new addition,” he said. “It’s been a busy summer, and now that the fall is coming, we’re looking forward to breaking ground and taking the next big steps.”
With the addition of the brewery building taking up a few tables worth of real estate on the extremely popular patio, it was vital to add rooftop seating and an outdoor bar. This will increase outdoor seating and provide a unique experience to enjoy the new craft beer varieties.
“We’re working on recipes for beer varieties now and will be releasing more details over the next couple of months,” added Jeff Carver. “It’s a very exciting time for all of us at The Wismer House, and for Port Elgin. Stay tuned, craft beer fans!”
The brewery name has been chosen and the branding is in the final stages of approval. An official announcement will be coming soon.
Carver, who relocated to Port Elgin several years ago to raise a family, transformed the historic Wismer House building into a restaurant and bar that has become one of the main focal points in the downtown core of Port Elgin and he has worked tirelessly to turn Port Elgin into a destination.
He held the positions of Business Improvement Association (BIA) President, took on the role of President of the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and was Chair of the Saugeen Shores Economic Development Advisory Committee.
For his efforts in advancing tourism, Carver was recognized in 2015, with the Charles Kelly Award for Tourism.
