Saugeen District Senior School (SDSS) Jazz Band received an early Christmas gift on Thursday, December 1st when it received a donation of $500 from the Canadian Big Band Celebration (CBBC).
The CBBC celebrates music of all genres and, in September after a long hiatus, returned to an in-person musical celebration in Saugeen Shores.
A wide variety of music presented by professional musicians and performers was held at many venues throughout the community, with a big finale on Saturday, September 17th, at the UNIFOR Family Education Centre in Port Elgin.
The SDSS Jazz Band under the direction of Kerri Lynn Boys amazed the Saturday crowd with its grasp of music from an earlier era.
The donation presented by Linda Campbell of the Canadian Big Band organizing committee will go toward sheet music and new folders for the band.
