Wonderful Interested Women Who Care Grey Bruce
‘One hundred (100) Women Who Care’ continues to move forward in their charitable giving in spite of COVID-19 and the group has continued to grow in membership numbers.
In June of last year (2020), the local group had 51 members and, today, has achieved more than its name implies ‘100 Women Who Care’ and has reached more than 100 women (106) as of April, 2021.
The group is made up of like-minded, caring women who are committed to supporting the community by making a meaningful difference to important causes in the area through direct monetary donations decided by a group consensus vote for the charitable recipient, with no third party involvement.
Members agree to donate $100 each at four one-hour meetings a year therefore, with 100 members, it would translate to a $10,000 donation at each meeting or $40,000 a year. Women can also join as a group of up to four. So rather than one member attending and donating $100 four times a year, a group of two, three or four women can join as a unit and share in the commitment.
The recent donation decided by a group majority vote is to go to REACH Centre in Owen Sound.
The REACH Centre provides programming for youth and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are focused on skill acquisition to foster independence in whatever form that looks like for our participants. We offer a stimulating and fun program that is both educational and recreational. We provide a place where participants can experience true community and supportive friendships, while engaging in life-long learning to achieve their full potential.
100 Women Who Care embody the saying, “Individually we are one drop, together, we are an ocean”.
